Blueprint Results through December 2009
In the short period since the launching of The Blueprint for Educational Change, here are just a few of the significant and measurable accomplishments by The Blueprint Partners and the E3 Alliance:
- Increasing the pipeline of secondary engineering students in the region by over 50%
- Tripling the number of regional middle school robotics teams in order to build a stronger engineering/STEM pipeline at younger grades
- Bringing an NSF grant to the region that funded support for high school engineering programs, advanced professional development for 64 STEM teachers, and supported a research study on taking lessons learned from the Manor T-STEM Academy to traditional high schools across the region
- Researching the “non-academic” professional skills required for college and career readiness, and working with schools and human resources managers across the region to better incorporate these skills into school curriculum to advance college readiness
- Launching the first ever standard for Kindergarten student school readiness in the history of the state
- Designing ground-breaking instructional practices and rubrics at a Pre-K level to support school readiness – rolled out to over 275 public and private schools teachers and trainers across the region and supported by Parent Guides
- Holding a Research-Based Practices Symposium – the first of its kind forum for K-12 educators in the region to share nationally-recognized evidence of curriculum and practices to build research-informed districts
- Starting a regional English Language Learners Collaborative that has documented dozens of bilingual, ESL, and ELL practices across Central Texas and is now building and piloting a rubric for a high-performing school for ELL’s
- Writing and producing a video and related collateral: Losing Ground, Losing Opportunity: The Time is Now to Make Education a Top Priority in Central Texas to bring attention The Blueprint for Educational Change and its goals
- Reaching out to over 2000 people with the message of The Blueprint
- Launching a nationally-unique Education Stimulus Collaborative of 9 traditional school districts, 2 charters, and seven foundations to strategically apply stimulus investment and bring more dollars to the region
- Bringing over $1.1M in new strategic investments directly to our districts and students
